UCRA - United Championship Racing Alliance
Seawright Doubles Down At UCRA Fort Payne Season Finale; Cleveland's Elliott Wins Red Line Championship
It was Trick or Treat for the kids as local racer Sam Seawright took the checkers once again at his home track as the 2020 United Championship Racing Alliance season wrapped up at Fort Payne Motor Speedway Saturday night.
Seawright won three of the four UCRA 604/Crate Late Model races this year, beginning back in February pre-COVID19 with the annual BAMA BRAWL. Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland won a Friday nighter in June, which oddly enough helped him collect his second UCRA National Championship (worth $5,000) as he finished sixth Saturday night.
Unofficially Elliott finished three points ahead of Jason Cardwell of Knoxville, whom earned the 2020 Rookie of the Year title. Saturday's runner-up Kasey Hall of Geraldine, AL was 4th over in the National Points standings just behind Kenny Kizzar of Soddy Daisy. Kizzar was fifth in the race Saturday just behind Colten Jackson of Chatsworth and Jason Welshan of Maryville.
Many racers pulled double duty Saturday racing in either Super Late Model or 602/Sportsman. Seawright pocketed $2,000 for the UCRA victory and went on to take the $3,000 SLM money as well. Soddy Daisy's Jordan Rodabaugh was second to Seawright and Welshan was third overall. Seawright overall led 90 laps in the WITCHY FIFTY two races pocketing $5,000 for his efforts.
Fort Payne Motor Speedway will kick back into gear the weekend after the 2021 Daytona 500 for the annual BAMA BRAWL presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil.
