Mr. Marvin Andrew Ford, age 71, of Rome, GA, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022.
Mr. Ford was born in Floyd County, GA, on April 20, 1951, son of the late Jess Ford and the late Ruthie Mae Watters Ford. He was also preceded in death by 17 siblings. Mr. Ford owned and operated A-Ford Rentals in Cedartown, GA, from 1978 until 2012. After his “retirement” he owned Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Fort Payne, AL, where his true passion of racing could be fulfilled. Racing was Mr. Fords life. His greatest accomplishment in the sport came in 1987 when he won the Alabama State Racing Championship on the dirt track. Mr. Ford achieved many other awards and recognitions, having won more than 500 races in his career. He was of the Baptist faith.

Ford’s racing connections included being flagman at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Ga., before taking promotional roles, Steve Hixson said, Ford's assistant promoter. He operated Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Ala., from 1988-97 and later purchased the former Thunder Mountain Speedway in Fyffe, Ala., and renamed it Fort Payne Motor Speedway.
"He was constantly trying to improve things weekly at the racetrack,” Hixson added, “and had grand ideas about making the experience at the racetrack better for fans and drivers.”
Survivors include his wife, Janis Marie Ingram, Silver Creek, to whom he was with for over 20 years; 2 sons, Craig Ford (Wendy), Rome, and Destin Purvis (Deanna Bagwell), Silver Creek; 6 grandchildren, Zach Owens, Jessica Hill, Hallie Purvis, Bentley Bagwell, Scarlett Purvis and Gannon Bagwell; 4 great-grandchildren, MaKayla Royer, Avery Royer, Cole Ridings and Cameron Ridings; 3 siblings, William Ford (Joan), Ray Ford (Brenda), and Alice Hart; a special sister-in-law, Becky Ford; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Wayne Kines and William Ford will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 3pm until service time on Wednesday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.

November 6, 2022 - UCRA and Fort Payne's Marvin Ford Passes Away |
CEDARTOWN, GA (11/5/22) --- Marvin Ford, the longtime owner and promoter of Fort Payne (Ala.) Motor Speedway and founder of the United Championship Racing Alliance for Crate Late Models, died Saturday night at his Cedartown, Ga., home.
The death of Ford, was reported by his son Craig Ford on Facebook and Steve Hixson, who assisted the Fort Payne track and the UCRA series with publicity.
Ford, had bypass surgery many years ago and suffered a mild heart attack in 2016. He was at home after Fort Payne’s scheduled Saturday racing was rained out. He was found in distress; efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Ford’s racing connections included being a former flagger at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Ga., before taking promotional roles, Hixson said. He operated Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Ala., from 1989-97 and later purchased the former Thunder Mountain Speedway in Fyffe, Ala., and renamed it Fort Payne Motor Speedway.
"He was constantly trying to improve things weekly at the racetrack,” Hixson added, “and had grand ideas about making the experience at the racetrack better for fans and drivers.”
Besides his son Craig, among survivors are longtime partner Janis Ingram, who handles day-to-day operations of the racetrack. Arrangements are incomplete. |

Tazewell, TN (9/22/22) --- The United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA event at Tazewell Speedway in Northeast Tennessee has been altered to pay respects to racer Buddy Rogers. The event has been rained out twice and owner Gary Hall wants to pay tribute to the #44 East TN racer. The Saturday October 1st event is now 44 Laps, paying $3,044 to win. Tazewell, TN (8/27/22) --- Aaron Guinn of nearby Russellville, TN took the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA victory Saturday night at Tazewell Speedway in East Tennessee. The Red Line Synthetic Oil presented 50 lapper was dedicated to track architect Blaine Frazier, whom passed away August 22nd at the age of 80. Guinn in his CG Motorsports #97 lead from his outside front row starting position to earn the nights $3,000 payday. Travis Fultz of Harrogate and Josh Collins of Strawberry Plains rounded out the podium finishers. August 26, 2022 - UCRA Begins Three-Race Leg into Finals for 2022 Championship |
Tazewell, TN (8/26/22) --- The United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil begins a three race sint towards the finals of the 2022 championship Saturday night at Tazewell Speedway in Northeast Tennessee. The 604/Crate Late Model series races for $3,000 to win at Gary Hall's Ultra-High Banked dirt track and is looking for a stout field of local competitors spearheaded by one Josh Collins (#144) of Strawberry Plains. The second leg of the 3-races will be Labor Day weekend Sunday, September 4th at North Georgia Speedway's "Club Nasty Fast" 1/3 mile dirt oval in Dalton/Chatsworth. The Sunday night show will showcase top regional 604 competitors. The final leg swings back to I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater on Saturday night September 10th for the "September to Remember" event. Kenny Kizzar (# 157) of Sale Creek leads the 2022 points currently and is the Reigning Defending UCRA champion. FORT PAYNE, Ala. (8/13/22) --- Saturday night the Fort Payne Motor Speedway hosted the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil, for the annual Fort Payne 40 Back to School event for 604/Crate Late
Models. Local racer Jeff Helms of Gadsden, earned his biggest win of his career winning the 40 lap, $2,500 to win main event. Helms held off numerous challenges from fast qualifier Kasey Hall of Geraldine and former two-time champion Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland, TN. Hall and Elliott swapped second place a few times before Elliott spun in turn four ending his night prematurely. Helms would keep Hall and Lil' John Owenby of Cleveland at bay for the remaining 40 laps with Owenby taking second on the final restart. Bill Mahan of Lacey Springs and Kyle May of Pisgah rounded out the top five finishers. The UCRA series takes off next weekend and wraps up a busy August with the annual "Raz May Taz 50" at the Tazewell Speedway in East Tennessee Saturday night August 27th. Phenix City, AL (7/30/22) --- Besting a 23 car field of United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA 604 Crate Late Models, Joseph Brown of Columbus, GA notched his career first series win Saturday night at the hallowed East Alabama Motor Speedway on the Alabama/Georgia border. Leading the first 8 laps of the 50 lap; Red Line Bama Duals 2 feature, Brown turned over the lead to Cody Overton of Evans, GA whom looked to be on rails headed for a $3,000 payday. Lap 37 had other plans as the right rear tire shredded, which handed the lead right back to Brown. Rome's Mario Gresham finished second as Overton raced back from mid-pack to third overall. Rounding out the top five finishers were Friday nights winner Chase Edge and runner up Dylan Knowles respectfully. Former UCRA winner Jake Traylor was sixth with current points leader and reigning, defending series champion Kenny Kizzar of Sale Creek, TN was seventh. Edge received a $500 bonus as high points racer of the "Duals". Overton, Traylor and Knowles all received part of the $1,000 bonus money. Hometrack racer Chase Edge didn't disappoint, grabbng the lead from Jake Traylor early and taking the field to the checkers, to earn a $3,000 payday. Dylan Knowles of Lynette, AL kept the "Knotts Towing, Edges Gas & Go, Jeff Dodger Logging" sponsored leader in his sights but could not pull off the pass. Traylor of La Grange, GA a previous winner with the UCRACity/Columbus on the Alabama/Georgia border Saturday for the second RLBD's event. Twenty-five competitors signed in looking to take the top $3,000 prize from the Billy Wilkins owned, 1/3 mile clay oval. In the end it was one racer set on "Cruz Control" dominating the 40 lap A-Main feature. Cruz Skinner of Oxford, in his Skinner Motorsports "Hurst Construction, A&W Outdoor Services, NAPA Auto Parts. Skinner Body Shop" sponsored machine took the victory in front of a huge crowd. JT Seawright of Anniston was second with Floridan Steven Jernigan rounding out the podium finishers. Taylor Jarvis and Bill Mahan rounded out the top five. Current UCRA points leader and reigning defending series champion Kenny Kizzar of Sale Creek. TN was 8th overall and current Rookie of the Year leader Brent Rhodes of Crossville, AL was 21st. Wartburg, TN (6/18/22) --- Local racer Drew Kennedy kept the United Championship Racing Alliance --- UCRA top $2,500 prize at home in Morgan County near the Tennessee/Kentucky border Saturday night winning the annual Tennessee Tussle event for the 604/Crate Late Model series presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil. Kennedy flavored a 13:045 lap time in qualifying on Father's Day Eve, besting ten others for the nights 30 lap A-Main, that was shortened by ten laps due to scheduled county wide power outages for maintenance purposes. The "Schubert Monument Sales" sponsored racer kept two-time UCRA Champion Rusty Ballenger of Seymour, behind him with DJ Shannon rounding out the podium finishers. Wartburg, TN (6/16/22) --- Georgian Larry Johnson is replacing longtime United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA race director Stanley Smith, who's relinquishing his duties due to his full time employment status in Alabama, beginning Saturday night at Wartburg Speedway. Johnson comes with tenure as a former race director at North Georgia Speedway and is expected to make a seamless transition into the position. Also, pertaining to Saturday nights $2,500 to win "Tennessee Tussle" UCRA event in Wartburg, the Plateau Electric Cooperative of Morgan County announced power interruptions beginning after midnight, June 18th forcing track and series officials to shorten the A-Main event from 40 laps to 30 laps. Cedartown, GA (6/8/22) --- The United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA is proud to announce the BAMA RED LINE OIL DUALS 2 (II) coming a little over a month from now at Penton Motor Speedway in Lafayette. Alabama and the famed East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, outside Columbus, Georgia. Friday night July 8th and Saturday night July 9th the 604/Crate Late Model series presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil will hold Twin 50 lap events each paying $3,000 to win. A $1,000 bonus to any raceteam that sweeps the weekend is in play. If no racer wins both the top three in points over the weekend will divide the $1,000 with the high points racer receiving $500. Thus, making a possible $7,000 weekend for one racer. Expected racers from all over the South including Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida and Alabama will be entering the event. In 2020 the first Bama Duals took place between Fort Payne Motor Speedway and Talladega Short Track. Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland, TN and Jason Welshan of Maryville, TN were victorious with Elliott going on to win his second UCRA championship worth $5,000. The UCRA has hosted one event at EAMS in 2020 where local Lagrange, GA racer Jake Traylor was victorious at the Thomas' family's high banked track. Traylor (# 42) also has had success at the new PMS track in Lafayette. Fort Payne, AL (6/4/22) --- Ten days removed from graduating high school, teenaged racing sensation "Slammin' Sam Seawright of nearby Rainesville, returned to his hometrack, Fort Payne Motor Speedway and to his 604/Crate Late Model roots, Saturday night winning in dominating fashion the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA "Summer Slammer 40" event presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil. Also Returning to Red, Seawright was back in his Black Diamond "Farm Systems Inc, GROW, Agcor Steel, J&R Excavating" sponsored machine and was followed across the finish line by last week's FPMS Crate Late Model winner Jeff Helms of Gadsden and the Geraldine "Hurricane" Kasey Hall. TAZEWELL, Tenn. (5/29/22) --- Sunday night the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil rolled into Tazewell Speedway in East Tennessee near the Kentucky border for the Melvin Corum Memorial 50 Crate Late Model event. Aaron Guinn of nearby Russellville set fast time among the 19 entries but it was Josh Collins (# 144) of Strawberry Plains, TN stealing the heat race from Guinn earning the pole for the $3,001 to win Main Event. UCRA points leader and reigning, defending series champion Kenny Kizzar (# 157) of Sale Creek, TN won heat #2 and earned the out "Front Row Joe" starting position for the feature with Collins. At the drop of the green the chase was on as Collins led Kizzar and Guinn early. One caution slow the race and in the end Collins with his "Compass, Knoxville Deisel, State Farm Josh Hemphill Team, Brucebuilt Performance, Stealth Racing Carburetor" 604/GM Performance machine taking the win. Fort Payne, AL (5/7/22) --- Two-time United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA champion Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland, TN showed Saturday night that he still has the stuff, by winning the 5th annual "Mayhem 40" 604/Crate Late Model feature at Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Northeast Alabama. Fast Qualifier Booger Brooks of Chattanooga set the pace early and seemed to be well on his way towards another victory, until a backmarker car collected the leader in a crash around the halfway mark of the 40 lapper. Points leader Kenny Kizzar of Sale Creek, had mechanical woes which dropped his chances a victory early. Elliott held off current Rookie of the Year leader and 2022 Bama Brawl winner Brent Rhodes of Crossville, AL for the $2,500 payday. Jeff Helms of Gadsden rounded up the podium finishers. (04/23/22) --- Sweetwater, TN (4/23/22) --- The United Championship Racing Alliance presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil for 604/Crate Late Models were at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater to race Round #3 of the $15,000 Championship Season Saturday night. Hayden Cardwell of Knoxville picked up the $2,500 "Spring-Loaded" victory dethroning Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, who'se won all four of the previous annual events. The Rusty Webb Racing CVR Race Cars team sponsored by "R&W Properties, Crate Engine Technologies, Harris Speedshop,
Dazzling Detail & Bling, Morgan- McClure Chevrolet, Brucebuilt Performance, Tennessee Shine Co., Bakers Wrecker Service, Fox Shocks" team has been on a roll winning multiple times at I-75 Raceway, this season alone. Gresham Racing Parts: Fast Time award went to runner up Ethan Hunter of Harrison with former UCRA champion Jesse Lowe of Crossville rounding out the podium finishers. April 2, 2022 - Josh Collins Wins UCRA Tazewell Jim Arnwine Memorial |
TAZEWELL, Tenn. (04/02/22) --- Saturday night the Tazewell Speedway opened the 2022 season with the Jim Arnwine Memorial 50 hosted by the United Championship Racing Alliance presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil. Eighteen 604/Crate Late Model raceteams entered vying for over $11,000 in posted prize monies, all seeking the $3,011 first place check. Hometown racer Clyde Overholt set fast time of 12:088 seconds around Gary Hall's Ultra-High Banked 1/3 mile clay oval, earning the $100 bonus from Gresham Racing Parts of Georgia. Heat races saw Josh Collins (#144) of Strawberry Plains, TN and Aaron Guinn of Russellville earn front row starting positions for the 50 lap feature. Pole sitter Josh Collins had to play catch-up to early race leader Guinn and did so with the help of backmarker traffic. Travis Fultz of Harrogate, would run second to Collins with the series Reining Defending Champion Kenny Kizzar of Sale Creek chasing the top two. Kizzar would settle for the final podium position at the checkers and unofficially takes the points lead from rookie contender Brent Rhodes. Collins takes third in the points standings unofficially with his victory Saturday night. Fultz will sit fourth in UCRA points with Alabama's Kasey Hall dropping to fifth.
Knoxville racers Heath Alvey and Jordan Horton rounded out the top five finishers Saturday night at the Taz. The UCRA takes off two weekends before returning to action Saturday night, April 23rd at Sweetwater's I-75 Raceway halfway between Chattanooga and Knoxville for the annual Spring-Loaded 40 event paying $2,500 to win.

TAZEWELL, Tenn.. (03/22/22) --- The Tazewell Speedway, east of Knoxville will again open up their racing season with the United Championship Racing Alliance this Saturday, March 26th, with the Gary Hall owner/promoter Ultra-High Banked dirt track.
The 604/Crate Late Model series presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil will chase the first Jim Arnwine Memorial checkers boasting a $3,011 winning payday.
This event will be the first of four in 2022 at "The Taz" for the 604 GM Performance Late Models that will contest regularly at the track. Already in 2022 defending series champion Kenny Kizzar (# 157) of Sale Creek, TN has thrown his proverbial helmet back into the championship ring running second in the series opener the Bama Brawl at Fort Payne (AL) Motor Speedway. FORT PAYNE, Ala. (02/26/22) --- Fort Payne, AL. (2/26/22) --- Leading the entire distance Saturday afternoon, rookie United Championship Racing Alliance racer Brent Rhodes of Crossville, AL claimed the biggest win of his career over 2021 Red Line Synthetic Oil UCRA champion Kenny Kizzar of Sale Creek and home town racer Kasey Hall of nearby Geraldine. Logan Palmer was fourth across the finish line but failed to report to tech after the race and was subsequently disqualified. Jeff Helms of Gadsden and Jason Cardwell of Knoxville rounded out the top 5 behind the #13 "Park City Auto Parts, Chase Oliver Racing Ore Racing Engines" Black Diamond racer. Cedartown, GA (2/26/22) --- Officials with the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil have released their 2022 schedule for the $15,000 championship season for 604/Crate Late Models. The 2022 series champion Kenny Kizzar of Sale Creek, TN will carry his red spoiler crown on the rear of his #157 "We ROCK Rock Crawl, Dodd Bros. Wrecker Service" CVR during the season in defense of his $5,000 Red Line title. The series will invade for the first time a brand new venue in Clanton, Alabama as Billy Wilkins welcomes the UCRA to his Buckshot Speedway for the ALABAMA EXTRAVAGANZA May 21st. Returning to the forefront are UCRA staples Tazewell Speedway in East Tennessee and Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Northeast Alabama each appearing on the schedule four times in 2022. The other mainstay of the series I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, TN returns to the schedule under new ownership of Shannon Littleton and his family with their two events; the annual SPRINGLOADED and the new SEPTEMBER TO REMEMBER 911 MEMORIAL Saturday night September 10th. Fort Payne, AL (9/11/21) --- The season finale for Fort Payne Motor Speedway hosted the United Championship Racing Alliance presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil, Saturday night. Andy Picklesimer of Ooltewah, TN a regular in Super Late Model competition dominated the 40 lap, $2,500 to win 604/Crate feature. Local racer Chase Oliver was second, Brian Kinnersley of Blairsville, GA was third with Chip Brindle and Josh Aachen rounding out the top five. Kasey Hall, Jesse Hughes, current points leader Kenny Kizzar, Brent Rhodes and Thomas Willoughby were sixth through tenth respectfully. Sam Seawright and Shane Griffith failed to start. The next event for the UCRA is Saturday night October 9th at Gary Hall's Tazewell Speedway high banked dirt track in Northeast Tennessee.

Blue Ridge, GA (8/14/21) --- Returning nearly two years later, again piloting the Hux Motorsports #01 "Bandit" Competition Racing Equipment, CJ Trucking, Team Husky sponsored, Savage racecar, Jason Welshan of Maryville, TN pocketed $2,700 of the winnings Saturday night at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Welshan dominated the race in 2019 pre-pandemic when it was Blue Ridge Motorsports Park. Two time United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA series champion Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland, TN chased the leader Saturday night, in his new racecar but settled for second. Third was current Red Line Synthetic Oil points leader Kenny Kizzar of Soddy Daisy, TN, whom seems to be well on his way to his first UCRA championship worth $5,000. Mitchell Stanley and Bo Stanley rounded out the top five finishers respectfully. Barry Anderson, Larry Waters, Jason Deal, Curtis Cline, $200 Fast Qualifier from Grisham Race Parts and Weeks Racecars Brian Kinnersley, Junior Whitener and Rodney Weeks rounded out the field. Kinnersley was the only racer to stop Welshan from a clean sweep of the event by setting Fast Time (16:027) lap in qualifying. Sweetwater, TN (7/24/21) ---Saturday night the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA was in action at the I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater for the 5th annual Larry Kyle Memorial 604/Crate Late Model series race. Twenty entrants took to the track for the 40 lap feature, paying $2,500 to win. Loudon's Cory Hedgecock and Crossville's Brandon Williams duked it out up front, until Williams night ended 7 laps premature, handing the unofficial victory to the #23 "EZ-GO, I-75 Raceway, Coryhedgecock23.com" racer. Knoxville's Zach Sise was second, Loudon's Matt Henderdon was third, with Jimmy Elliott and Jason Cardwell rounding out the top five. Sixth thru tenth were; Ronnie Johnson, Sylvan Schuette, Joe Pickelsimer, Jesse Lowe and Jason Welshan and respectfully. Williams, Ethan Hunter, Seth Jolly, John Cobb, fast qualifier Junior Whitener; Barry Anderson and current UCRA points leader Kenny Kizzar rounded out the field. Cameron Weaver, Jamison Earley and Hayden Ownbey failed to start.

July 6, 2021 - UCRA Red Line Oil Stop at Sugar Creek Rescheduled |
Blue Ridge, GA (7/6/21) --- Due to Sugar Creek Raceway staff scheduling conflicts on July 31st, the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA 604 Crate Late Model series race presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil has been moved to Saturday, August 14th to coincide with the Red Clay 602 Sportsman series event.
The 40 lap UCRA 604 race is paying $2,000 to win whereas the Red Clay 602 Sportsman 30 lapper pays $1,000 to win. The weekend is being dubbed "The Saturday Night Double-Header" and will see; Beg-Sportsman ($500 win), Street Stock ($400 win) and FWD ($400 win) on the program. Super Late Models will not be on the program. After the August 14th date, the next scheduled event will be the Topless Outlaw Late Model series $3,000 to win race, Saturday September 11th. Super Late Models will return in the Fall beginning in early October with various special events scattered up until November, if weather permits. Fort Payne, AL (6/12/21) --- Saturday in Northeast Alabama the Fort Payne Motor Speedway hosted the United Championship Racing Alliance presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil. Local racer Kasey Hall of Geraldine won the $2,500 Round #5 feature of the 2021 season. Hall was fourth in 2020 season points with the UCRA, but this year he's racing weekly at his home track. Sam Seawright, winner of the 2021 UCRA Bama Brawl event was second, with current series points leader Kenny Kizzar of Soddy Daisy third. Tazewell, TN (5/30/21) --- Wrestling the lead away from pole sitter and early race leader "Big Mack" McCarter, fast qualifier/ local racer Aaron Guinn of Russellville stole the show Sunday night at Tazewell Speedway with the United Championship Racing Alliance 604/Crate Late Model series presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil. Guinn earned $100 from Gresham Racing Parts of Rome, GA setting fast time of the 20 entrants with a lap of 11:882 seconds around the ultra high-banked clay oval.

May 4, 2021 - Sparta Racer Jeremy Holtzclaw Loses Battle with Cancer |
Sparta, TN (5/4/21) --- Crate Late Model racer Jeremy Holtzclaw of Sparta, TN lost his two year battle with cancer this morning, reports family on the his Facebook page. The 41 year old had recently completed at the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA "Bama Brawl" in February and was leading the race coming to the checkered flag when he blew a tire on the back straightaway. Holtzclaw competed for the UCRA Rookie of the Year $1,000 bonus in 2020 but came up short to Knoxville's Jason Cardwell. The UCRA is a tight knit of raceteams that help one another off the track, but yet are very competitive during the races. UCRA Red Line Synthetic Oil champion Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland has reached out with his condolences, as has many others around the region. Information on funeral services haven't been released. |
April 21, 2021 - Big Mack McCarter Takes Tazewell Speedway UCRA Victory |
Tazewell, TN (4/23/21) --- In what racefans are calling one of the best 604/Crate Late Model races in quiet some time Friday, Seymour's "Big Mack" McCarter (#51) and Gresham Racing Parts fast qualifier Aaron Guinn of Russellville, put on a whale of a race in the United Championship Racing Alliance presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil feature. Twenty two raceteams entered the Tazewell Speedway event for Hall of Fame inductee Charles Trammell, the late patriarch of the racing family of the Knoxville area.
McCarter used backmarker traffic on lap 15 to pass Guinn for thevictory. Josh Collins of Strawberry Plains, TN was third, Crossville's Brandon Williams was fourth and Soddy Daisy's Kenny Kizzar rounded out the top five finishers. Jason Trammell grandson of the events namesake finished seventh. Blue Ridge, GA (4/10/21) --- The new Sugar Creek Raceway promoter informed the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA officials that the May 1st date agreed upon early this season would be unobtainable due to upgrades on the facility still being worked in, at the 1/3 mile clay banked oval in the Blue Ridge Northeast Georgia mountains. The second date for Saturday, July 31st is still on and another date for the Fall of 2021 will be posted for the 604/Crate Late Model championship series presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil to make up the May event. These changes follow a rash of other changes to the 2021 schedule that include the upcoming Tazewell Speedway and I-75 Raceway dates. February 21, 2021 - Seawright Takes 3rd Bama Brawl Winnings at Fort Payne For UCRA Opening Weekend |
The 3rd Annual Eddie Davis Memorial BAMA BRAWL weekend took place Friday-Sunday as over 150 raceteams converged upon Fort Payne Motor Speedway's 3/8's mile dirt track in Northeast Alabama for over $100,000 in posted prize monies.
The United Championship Racing Alliance presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil kicked off its 2021 season much like it did in 2020 and it was local racer Sam Seawright narrowly beating out the competition for the $3,000 prize Sunday afternoon, for his second consecutive BAMA BRAWL title. Rookie of the Year contender Jeremy Holtzclaw of Sparta seemed enroute to dethrone Seawright, but a flat tire catapulted the leader into the back straightaway wall on the final lap, handing the victory to second running Seawright. Jerry Green (Knoxville), 2019 UCRA champ Jesse Lowe (Crossville), Kenny Kizzar (Soddy Daisy) and Tyler Nichols (Ringgold) rounded out the top five finishers.

January 24, 2021 - UCRA Delivers 2020 Championship Accolades To Elliott.... 2021 Dates Announced |
Two time United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA champion Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland received his earnings and hardware Saturday a week after officials decided to call off the luncheon gathering normally held, due to COVID19 concerns. Marvin Ford and announcer Chris Regan hand delivered Elliott his $5,000 winnings to Cleveland, whilst maintaining safe social distancing standards.
Cardwell's Rookie of the Year earnings was delivered and the Knoxville racer will be picking it up later this week. Kenny Kizzar of Soddy Daisy picked up his earnings for finishing third in the National Points Standings. Kizzar's the longest standings racer with the UCRA, beginning 604/Crate Late Model competition with the series on its inaugural season in 2015. Kasey Hall of Alabama will be getting his fourth place earnings later this week.
With Fort Payne Motor Speedway's BAMA BRAWL just four weeks away (Feb 18-21st), officials announced their race dates for 2021 with the Red Line Synthetic Oil UCRA series. Saturday, June 12th, August 21st and October 23rd the series will be in action tentatively, all paying $2,500 to-win. I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, TN has committed to Saturday April 10th and July 24th for their SPRINGLOADED 40 and LARRY KYLE MEMORIAL races also paying $2,500 to-win. Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, GA is returning to action in 2021. Their UCRA dates are Saturday, May 1st and July 31st, paying $2,500 to-win each race. The Wartburg (TN) Speedway host their race Saturday July 17th paying $2,500 to-win its 40 lapper. Tazewell Speedway dates include Saturday March 20th, Sunday May 30th, and Saturday October 9th, the latter, two events pay $3,000 to-win each.
The United Championship Racing Alliance 2021 season will again be presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil and will boast a $15,000 points championship, that includes a $1,000 Rookie of the Year chase. January 12, 2021 - UCRA Postpones Saturday's Championship Awards Luncheon Due to Covid-19 Risk |
The United Championship Racing Alliance Awards Luncheon presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil, scheduled for Saturday (1/16) afternoon at Chattanooga's Golden Corral restaurant off Gunbarrel Rd in the Hamilton Place Mall area is being postponed due to a recent spike in area COVID-19 cases. The series is taking the necessary precautions in keeping racers, their families and crews safe during this pandemic, as to not confine folks in high risk locations. UCRA officials are looking at rescheduling possibilities, as well as other ways of honoring its racers safely that competed during the 2020 season. |
January 3, 2021 - UCRA Tazewell Speedway Dates Confirmed with March Tennessee Home Opener |
The Tazewell Speedway and the United Championship Racing Alliance - UCRA agreed to forge ahead with the season opener, Saturday March 20th, 2021 as planned. Gary Hall owner/promoters of the Ultra-High Banked dirt track is proceeding with agreement from UCRA officials, to host the 604/Crate Late Model series the 3rd weekend in March, despite another area track's decision to host 604 Crate's the same weekend.
"We already planned our schedules" referring to his track, just North of Knoxville, "Unfortunately it looks like this new entity is messing up other tracks schedules too" stated Mr. Hall.
Of the reported 159 pre-entries at the other facility, Saturday March 20th, only a specific number will make their feature, leaving almost 130 raceteams of 604's GM Performance racers looking for somewhere to race Saturday night. Tazewell Speedway is just 1hr and 40min (90 miles) away. Tazewell Speedway's March 20th "Charles Trammell Memorial" pays $2,500 to-Win the 40 lap feature.
The UCRA will again return to Tazewell Speedway in 2021 for two other weekends of competition both paying $3,000 to-Win, coming Sunday night May 30th Memorial Day weekend with the Melvin Corum Memorial and Saturday October 9th with the Raz-Ma' Taz 50.
In 2020 locals Jason Trammell and Josh Collins picked off UCRA victories, with the March date being cut due to COVID19 Pandemic uprising last Spring. Rookie of the Year Jason Cardwell had a runner up finish as did Alabama's "Back-The-Blue Bandit" (# 13) Kasey Hall. Contender Jeff Neubert of Rockford, also had a great run at Tazewell in 2020. UCRA is continuing to work with promoters for scheduling purposes for 2021. I-75 Raceway's Sweetwater, TN track will be announcing dates for the annual "Spring-Loaded" and "Larry Kyle Memorial" race dates next.

January 1, 2021 - UCRA Red Line Oil 2021 Season Opener at Fort Payne Motor Speedway Announced |
The United Championship Racing Alliance presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil will kick off the 2021 season at Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Northeast Alabama February 19-21st (Friday- Sunday) with the 3rd Annual Eddie Davis Memorial BAMA BRAWL. The UCRA 604/Crate Late Models will share top billing with Super Late Models ($4,500 to-Win),
a 40 lap UCRA race paying $3,000 to-Win. Also a special "Red Line" Race of Champions is slated for Saturday's (2/20) opener at FPMS paying $1,000, to invitees from 2020 and past champions of the UCRA.
All classes will qualify and run heats Saturday to determine starting orders for Sunday afternoon. Other classes including KMSA Mini Stock ($2,000 Win), 602/Sportsman ($1,300 Win), Open Wheel Modified ($1,200 Win), A-Hobby/Street Stock ($1,100 Win) Bombers ($1,100 Win) and FWD ($700 Win) will all be in action. The new B-Hobby SOUTHERN OUTLAW HOBBY series will make its FPMS debut paying $1,500 to win the Chris Storey promoted race.
More details for all classes including rules updates, will be posted on the FortPayneMotorSpeedway.com website and on the tracks Facebook page. UCRA dates for Spring and on into Summer 2021, are still being etched out with track owners/promoters.
