May Masters Fort Payne UCRA Visit
The United Crate Racing Alliance headed to it's home track the Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Northeast Alabama Saturday night for the second leg of a Double Header weekend as "Border Wars" broke out between North Carolina (Friday night) and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Of the seventeen entries, local Pisgah, AL racer Kyle May shined through leading all 40 laps of the $2,500 to-win feature. May held off Alliance dominator and current points leader Rusty Ballenger as well as Forrest Trent who would share a $500 bonus with Chip Brindle for tying highest points over the two UCRA races this weekend.
"I didn't wanna see that last caution because my car was better on a long green, and the tires did seal over a little bit before the restart. That had me worried quite a bit," May said in Victory Lane. "It's my home track, but there's still some of the best drivers in the region here, and I feel like we done good to be able to run competitive with 'em." concluded the "TA's Suspension and Racin' Warpaint" sponsored racer. Local favorite young-gun Sam Seawright suffered an overheating problem while running in the top five and the water on his tires sent him sliding off the third turn. A late yellow with 34 laps completed tightened the field for the final time. There were four cautions during the 40-lapper. Chad Green and Alliance touring regular Ronnie Cooper failed to start the race damaging their racecars during time trials and heats.
