Cory Hedgecock Snares UCRA Season Opening Win

Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tennessee, continued his red-hot start to the 2017 season by capturing the United Crate Racing Alliance opener at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tenn.

Hedgecock led all 40 laps of the "SPRING-LOADED 40" race to earn $2,500. Runner-up Jason Manley finishing 1.307 seconds behind Hedgecock who had distanced himself with back-marker cars by races end.

Hedgecock and his # 23 "Transport One, Cushman, VooDoo Technology, Valley Transport, K&P Used Cars, Eagle Racing Engines, Mikeandgina.biz, Keyser Mfg., Timeless Memories Photography, Renegade Fuel and ET Motorgear" Rocket racecar has five victories in seven 2017 appearances in Super, Limited and Crate Late Models.

Ten drivers completed all 40 laps of the feature. Due to approaching weather, heat races were scrapped with everyone starting the 40-lap feature except Phillip Cardin. Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn., piloted a MasterSbilt owned by Danny and Susan Tallent-Yoder.
