UCRA 602 Sportsman Mini-Series - 25 Laps: Round # 5
Phenix City, AL (7/15/17) Richie Stephens in his "K&J Trucking, LoveStuffOnline.com, Knotts Towing & Recovery" sponsored racecar raced to a special $1,000 payday for Round # 5 for this weekends Jimmy Thomas Tribute race. Starting 3rd and taking the led on lap 1 Stephens held off all comers for his 3rd straight UCRA 602/Sportsman Mini Series win at East Alabama Motor Speedway (EAMS) Saturday night. The win for the "Rocketman" plants the hometown racers directly behind UCRA 602/Sportsman points leader Jesse Hughes of Crossville, AL, who didn't race Round # 5 Saturday night. Brian Hansford started his night at Senoia, but came to EAMS due to the neighboring tracks rain out and0 sat on the pole for the feature. He would run 2nd the entire 25 laps. Blant Duke worked from 6th, was involved in a collision on one of the initial starts, but managed to survive to finish 3rd. ,Keith McGuire and Jason Price rounded out the Top 5. The next UCRA 602/Sportsman Mini Series event is slated in two weeks on Saturday July 29th at Fort Payne (AL) Motor Speedway and is a "Double Header" event, which carries twin 25 lap, $600 to-Win Main Events.
